This was for a Ghibli themed meal (Spirited Away) and the food was creative and the drinks delicious. This restaurant has a great practice here with tasty fusions and delicious drinks! Worth it!

I felt like I won the lottery when I managed to secure a table at an anime eat along night!! Tonight was that night, and the good folks at Kilig lived up to and beyond my expectations for this kind of experience - something not being offered anywhere else, as far as I know, but something that's been long yearned after by fans of the anime medium.
The care with which these nights are designed and presented speaks to an inspiring passion of the chef's and those planning the drinks and food items. Each menu item is perfectly timed and very fresh. It's even beautifully presented even though the room is dark! (Thank goodness for my night mode camera making these images look like they're in a fully lit room!)
For me personally, Deptford isn't an incredibly easy part of London to get to. But it was worth all the trains and changes to take part in the anime eat along. The restaurant is just outside of Deptford station, down the stairs and under the rails. It is accessible and so are the toilets.
I'm sure if this event is done to this standard, their normal hours will be just as delicious and exciting.
Happy third birthday to Kilig!
Edit: I've now been back two more times - to Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away! In my opinion, Kiki's remains the best, Spirited Away a close second, and Howl's third. Every night is such a great experience.
It's practically a necessity to be following their Instagram page to catch these tickets as they go live so I strongly recommend doing that if you're interested in attending.

I went to one of their eat along anime nights with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was very wholesome and the theme was cool. I would highly recommend. We watched ponyo for reference :)

Deptford High Street in Greenwhich transforms into a busy marketplace on weekends. Rich in history, today it is a blend of ethnicities coming together to form a colorful diaspora. The street is lined with shops and eateries selling stuff from across the continents, including Asia, Africa and Europe.
KiliG is a restaurant located off Deptford High Street, known for its fusion cuisine which features food that is a blend of Colombian and Filipino. The reviews were great with a rating of 4.6 and so were the reels on Instagram. So we were expecting something extraordinary when we chose to have lunch there but were sorely disappointed. We started with the Chicken and Shrimp Lumpia which is a kind of spring roll with chicken and shrimp stuffing. The rolls looked oily on the outside and the filling was lackluster. The dip that came with the dish however was tangy and delicious. Next we had the Colombian Coffe Bavette Steak. The beef was charred at the edges, quite chewy and bland. The accompaniments consisting of Pickled Cabbage and Ensaladang Talong (Eggplant Salad) were both excellent. We followed this up with the Lechon - slow roasted pork belly accompanied with Spiced Mango Purée and Coriander Oil. The pork belly was well-cooked and the crispy skin on it gave texture and taste to an otherwise boring dish. The accompanying chutney was tasty however, and lifted the dish somewhat.
For dessert we had the Mango Banoffee which somehow didn't seem to come together. The layers consisting of the rum-soaked lady finger (sponge fingers) and the calamansi cream were excellent.
I'm not sure if we chose the wrong dishes or if we elected to go there on a not so great day, but the food somehow didn't live up to expectations. The Service however was top-notch!

What can I say - my spot in London. This place has been made with love by people who truly care and it comes across in every aspect. The food is insane! So delicious. The cocktails and wine are perfection. It’s a lovely space and you can tell they’ve thought of everything, and the team are always so lovely and you always feel taken care of. A true gem! Cannot recommend enough.
